Germany, Land of Expats

Germany is a country of old city skylines, beautiful natural landscapes, bakeries, pharmacies, no speed limits, construction sites, and expats. Many, many expats.

I love expats, because it takes a certain kind of adventurous spirit to leave what you know behind and start fresh in a strange, new culture. These expats all have their own stories, too, which started decades before they decided to come to Germany. And it’s these stories that I am fascinated by. I’m also fascinated with Germany through the eyes of an expat. What does it look like? Sound like? Taste like? Feel like?

On this site, you can expect some insights into German culture and into what life is like here for expats. You can also expect analysis of German news, and information about things that are important to expats. What you shouldn’t expect are resources or how-to guides—there are plenty of those elsewhere.

As you can no doubt see, this site is in its infancy. But it would be great if you would be among its first readers! Like the Facebook page. Follow me on Twitter. And , sign up for the Expat Life Germany mailing list.

Here’s to new beginnings!
